Chef Ryan Adams of Sorrento Grille Laguna Beach will be the head chef for Slow Food Orange County’s 2nd Annual Barbeque He has generously donated his time and expertise to create a bright, fresh menu inspired by old-fashioned fair food. Highlights include barbequed citrus-marinated free-range chicken, warm heirloom potato salad and Irvine-grown strawberries spiked with honey.

Chef Adams, born and raised in Orange County, will be assisted by Slow Food Orange County members and a team of foster kids from Monkey Business Café, a project of the Hart Community Home that supports youth with job-training and leadership skills. All proceeds from the event will support the Monkey Business Café.

The event will also include guest speaker, Jill Richardson, author of Recipe for America: Why Our Food System Is Broken and What We Can Do To Fix It. Live entertainment will be provided by Walden Dahl, known for the hit songs he has written for bluegrass stars Ralph Stanley and Alison Krauss. Raffle prizes include gift certificates from Slow Food-supported local restaurants, tickets to the Pageant of the Masters including dinner and parking, food and gardening products and gourmet food baskets.
