I was also goint to reccomend long beach! :). Check out Rock Bottom Brewery on Pine ave. Or Smooth's Sports Grill also on Pine. There's this really neat dueling piano bar at the Pike but I haven't tried it yet. There are some really neat places off 2nd St in Belmont Shore but that area might be tougher for out of towners to find and parking is tricky. There are so many great options in long beach, I know you will find something delish! :)

Thanks so much for the great ideas! I've become ill (not life threatening) and it doesn't appear that I'll be able to meet my friend unless she wants to drive all the way down here--I can't drive for a bit. Rotten timing...
