Hey, Judy. Have you heard of a place called 50 Forks? Definitely a hidden gem. Pam said she has been there and I am planning on going tomorrow.

The Shebeen upstairs at Mozambique and the Rooftop at Casa Del Camino in Laguna are my all time favorite Hidden Gems. Fun cocktails, small plates and the perfect place to go off season. They are getting a bit more popular so may be harder to get into this year. After the Sawdust festival - make sure to go and sip a martini and watch the sunset.

I did the culinary program, and I'm currently in the restaurant management program at the art institute, so i worked at 50 forks. I suggest finding out when a new quarter starts, and going a few weeks after so the students have time to learn the menu. As for new hidden gems, a good friend of mine took me to a Japanese place called Tsuruhashi in Fountain Vally. and now I'm pretty much addicted. It's Korean BBq style, where you cook your own meats on a little grill in the middle of the table, and its pretty cheap for how delicious everything is.

There is this great Euro style restaurant in San Clemente by the tracks called Cafe Mozart, I ate this delicious Cajun alligator dish that was surprisingly not too expensive, their front courtyard dining area is gorgeous with accenting fountains and is completely enveloped by beautiful architecture.

I actually work at 50 forks right now as I am in the culinary program at the Art Institute. I would definitely recommend stopping by and checking it out!

Where is 50 FORKS?

It's at the Art Institute of California. The address is 3601 W. Sunflower Ave., Santa Ana, CA 92704-9888. I believe the phone number is 714.429.0918. Make sure you call and make a reservation because there are days when the restaurant is packed.

Like Nick, I attend the school as well but I have yet to take the class that runs 50 Forks (hopefully at the beginning of next year I'll be in it). It has really good food at a decent price. All waiters/waitresses and cooks are students that go there.
