Loved Carla! I was so upset when she listen to the other girl, can't remember her name now but that is the reason she lost. She didn't listen to her own inner chef. I hope she opens a restaurant her in the OC!

I agree. Stefan fell short on his dessert. I guess I'm just upset about the judging system of the show because if it was truly an accumulative competition, Stefan would be the true top chef.

I truly, truly believe that if Carla didn't second guess herself she would have had a real good chance. You know, I'm kinda glad that Hosea got the gig. I have to agree with the judges and that if I was presented with a desert plate that looked like that I would have been puzzled too. Stefan is so much better than that. What was he thinking when he was developing his 3rd course. I think that Hosea's progression of courses made sense and like Gail and Padma said was thoughtful. Carla clearly touched the hearts of many last night and even got to Stefan. I'm sure that Stefan and Carla will have many opportunities for greater things in the months ahead! Carla and I have worked together and she does put her heart and soul into what she does...

ATTROCIOUS finale. I am so utterly disappointed in this show. =(

despite stefan's cocky attitude, he's definitely my top pick! let's see how everything goes =)
FoodieInDisguise Comment by FoodieInDisguise on February 20, 2009 at 10:58pm
Well here we are...we're down to the Finale with Stefan, Hosea and Carla (Go Carla!!) The teasers never lead us to know exactly what is in store... can't wait for next Wednesday!

I was stunned, as well that Jamie left. She seemed like a top 4 or top 2 contender. But, the judge's said "the make of the worst" dish goes. They stick to their guns ....but yes...Leah needs to go.
Jules Comment by Jules on February 5, 2009 at 2:33am
Jamie got robbed! Leah should've gone home, this just makes me more bitter about the judging system! haha oh well, at least Fabio & Stefan are still worth watching.
FoodieInDisguise Comment by FoodieInDisguise on February 5, 2009 at 2:27am
Well once again...Stefan is at the front of the pack, but fabio and Carla weren't too far behind! In fact, I really thought Carla was going to do it again this week. So we're down to one more episode before we find out who out Top 4 Chefs will be! :)

Cha Cha’s Brings New Life to Old Mexico

By Rich Manning

When you hear the phrase “Mexican restaurant,” what initially comes to mind? Chances are, your bean is instantly populated with thoughts of buildings laid heavy with faux crumbling adobe, archways, and other amenities designed to mimic something from days of yore (or in Orange County’s case, days of Yorba).…

Don the Beachcomber by Rich Manning

The Polynesian motif has managed to cultivate a somewhat maligned reputation over the years in the food and drink scene. Once a proud beacon of trendy coolness, the setting designed to bring the wonders of the Pacific to the mainland have garnered a perception of forgettable food ma…

Haven Gastropub by Rich Manning

Last week, a friend and I were having a discussion about experiencing great food while we happily consumed fish tacos. After sharing a tale with me about how this particular chocolatier in New York City has permanently cast other chocolates in a lesser light, he confessed that his love for this cocoa-infused art led him to realize that he would gladly experience the best type of food the world has to offer, then spend the rest of his days in anger over the fact that the globe cannot offer anythi…

No Bull: Matador Cantina is Terrific
By Rich Manning

There is one constant ingredient in all Mexican food: love. Yes, I know that such a line sounds a bit hackneyed and cliched – okay it sounds a lot hackneyed and chiched – but it has always rung true in my experience. I grew up i…
