50 Gourmet Food Trucks, 8500 people... what's not to love?

OC Foodie Fest was a complete sell out at the Honda Center.
With 50 gourmet food trucks, live music, boutique vendors and good weather, how could anyone miss it.

What I loved most was the seeing the variety of food as well as passion of the people eating it. As a sold out event and the popularity of the Great Food Truck Race trucks being there, The trucks on the race were packed almost the entire day but most people didn't seem to mind. As many stood in line, they were taking photos, posting their experiences, and running back and forth with their friends who where standing in other lines who would then come and share. There was a method to the whole food truck craze in order to taste a little bit of everything.

We had a booth there to promote the Orange County Restaurant Week and Happy Hour Week and had the chance to explore a bit before it got too crazy. It was nice to see the complete branding that many put into their concepts. They really are well thought out restaurants on wheels. I've attached some fun PHOTOS of the trucks with great graphics and fun from the day. This is the first time this has come to OC, and we hope not the last. I'm guessing we may see more local food trucks in the future.

To follow trucks already here you can go to Roaming Hunger's OC page. TacoDawg is also one of our favorites you can follow on twitter. Then if you can't decide which is best and where to find them Yelp has a food truck page with some fun reviews.

Thanks to everyone for stopping by the OC Foodies/Restaurant Association Booth and saying hello.

Just a reminder that the Raffle for $500 (10-$50) gift cards for Restaurant Week is being drawn Sept. 15th. The winner must be an OC Foodies member with a profile or you will only win $250 worth of gift cards. Still not bad for Restaurant Week with the amazing dining deals, but think about how much fun $500 could be with your friends.

Lastly, now that you have seen the trucks in person, make sure to watch the Great Truck Race on Sunday's on Food Network at 9pm. I got to have the sandwich from the Nom Nom truck and the Crepes Bonaparte truck is from the Fullerton so I am rooting for them. Who's your favorite?

Food trucks have come a long way from the days of hot dogs swimming in tepid, murky water, especially in the gourmet street-food worlds of Los Angeles, New York City.
