Cold and frothy Root Beer Floats are a great treat on a hot summers day so this National Root Beer Float day try out one of these unique recipes. There’s even some just for the grown ups.
Gourmet Root Beer Float
1/2 pint vanilla ice cream
1 (12 fluid ounce) can or bottle root beer
1/2 cup whipped cream
4 maraschino cherries
Place 1 scoop of ice cream into each of two tall glasses. Pour root beer carefully over the ice cream. Add another scoop and repeat. If possible, repeat again.
Root Beer Float
6 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
4 salted pretzel rods
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/4 cup nondairy whipped topping
4 scoops cherry chocolate chip ice cream
1 (12-ounce) bottle root beer
1 (12-ounce) bottle cream soda
In a double boiler, melt the chocolate chips. Dip the tips of the pretzel rods in the chocolate and place upright in a glass in the freezer for 1 hour. Set the remaining melted chocolate aside.
Combine the vanilla extract and whipped topping. For each float, place 2 scoops of ice cream into tall float glass. Add 6 ounces root beer and 6 ounces cream soda to each glass. Top with the vanilla-flavored whipped topping. Remove pretzel rods from freezer and place in Root Beer Float. Garnish with extra drizzle of melted chocolate and serve immediately.
Root Beer Float Milkshake
3 tablespoons chocolate syrup
2 - 3 scoops vanilla ice cream
Blend all ingredients until smooth
Root Beer Floats 21+
1 pint vanilla ice cream
2 bottles very cold old-fashioned root beer
Splash bourbon, optional
Freshly whipped cream
Place a few scoops of vanilla ice cream into 2 tall float glasses. Pour the root beer and bourbon, if using, over the ice cream and top with a dollop of whipped cream
Root Beer Float 21+
1/2 ounce vodka
1/2 ounce Galliano® herbal liqueur
1/2 ounce light cream
1 1/2 ounce whipped cream
Pour vodka, Galliano, and light cream into a glass filled with ice cubes and stir well. Fill with cola, stir lightly, top with whipped cream, and serve.
Root Beer Float 21+
1 ounce Galliano
1 ounce vanilla liqueur
1 ounce cream
Root beer to fill
Maraschino cherry for garnish
Fill a tall glass with ice and add the liqueurs and cream. Top with root beer. Garnish with a dollop of whipped cream and a cherry.
Not Your Kids' Root Beer Float 21+
1 cup root beer
1/2 cup root beer schnapps
1 scoop vanilla ice cream
In a pint glass, stir together 1/4 cup of the root beer and the root beer schnapps. Place in the freezer for 2 hours, or until ready to drink. Leave the remaining root beer at room temperature. When ready to drink, scoop the ice cream into the pint glass, and top off with the room temperature root beer.
