Love Poke? If yes then I Love Poke Festival is for you!

Do you love poke? We are giving 2 sets of 2 tickets to the I LOVE POKE Festival happening next week. If you would like to win post a comment on this blog post. We will select a winner

On April 12th foodies and Hawaii lovers from all over the county will gather as Don the Beachcomber restaurant hosts the premiere I Love Poke Festival. This is an opportunity for Poke connoisseurs to indulge, while introducing newcomers to the Hawaiian delicacy and lifestyle.

What is POKE? A traditional Hawaiian dish, Poke (pronounced "POH-keh") is most commonly made with raw ahi tuna, cut into square cubes and seasoned with spices like soy sauce, limu (seaweed) and sesame. The best poke is said to melt in your mouth and is like candy for seafood lovers.

The I Love Poke Festival will feature leading restaurants from around the county, including The House of Big Fish in Laguna Beach and Harbor Grill in Dana Point, who will compete in two categories – a traditional “Best Poke” challenge and a creative “Surprise Poke” challenge!

But wait, there's more! Experience extraordinary entertainment from New Zealand’s Kahurangi Maori Dance group, who will perform their unique blend of Maori song, dance and heritage. The island-inspired evening will also include an auction and raffle prizes to benefit the Rell Sunn Educational Fund, an organization that promotes health and environmental ocean awareness through community projects and events.

Beyond bringing downright delicious food to Orange County, the I Love Poke Festival is also meant as a means to keep California connected to Hawaii. To many, finding good Poke on the mainland is the equivalent of finding a good Carne Asada burrito in Hawaii – a near impossible task!  Through founding sponsor, Musubi Map, the festival is committed to highlighting the large numbers of Hawaiians or Hawaii Lovers in California and providing them with resources to authentic Hawaiian food, business and related events.

If you're not a winner, you can still purchase tickets to the I Love Poke Festival for $50 Pre-sale General Admission or $65 at the door ($5 of each ticket sale will benefit the Rell Sunn Foundation). Tickets can be purchased at www.ilovemusubi.com .

I love AHI poke. I've gone to various restaurants checking out who has great poke dishes and during restaurant week i found that Marmalade restaurant at the District has a fantastic Ahi Poke dish. This event sounds like heaven for a seafood lover like me.
