This past Monday, the popular Food Network show "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives" finally made its way into Orange County with its feature on Paul's Coffee Shop in Fountain Valley. Having eaten there a couple of times, I have to say that the tiny joint is a most worthy venue to break through such a barrier. The food is as good as it looked in the episode (I simply adore their corned beef), and their commitment to honoring the local military in pretty much everything they do is nothing short of inspiring.
I have to admit that seeing a place that you enjoy suddenly pop up in a national television show is rather surreal, and I anticipate that it may be a bit tough to sequester a table there for a few weeks. That being said, it's going to be lots of fun to be able to walk in the place and know that one Guy Fieri has given the place his influential blessing.
So congratulations to Paul's, and may the humble Fountain Valley eatery be the first in a long line of joints Guy is compelled to visit.
