The 4th Annual Lobsterfest at Newport Beach will be held on Saturday, August 11, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort and Marina. The event will benefit Leadership Tomorrow, as well as Make-A-Wish® Orange County and the Inland Empire in hopes of generating enough funds to adopt the wish of a local child.
Patrons of the summer celebration can enjoy Maine lobster flown in fresh on the morning of the event and prepared on site, along with traditional seafood and additional buffet items including shrimp, mussels, tri-tip, corn-on-the-cob and dessert. Live entertainment will be provided beachside on the event stage by Reggae band, We The People. General admission tickets can be purchased for $55. Additional lobsters are $20 each. Beer, wine and mixed drinks will be available for purchase. VIP admission is $150 and includes a reserved stage front table with service, complimentary wine and valet parking.
In 2009, Lobsterfest originated as a fundraiser for the Costa Mesa and Newport Beach Sunrise Rotary Clubs. Today, the developing Lobsterfest Foundation provides scholarships for participants of Leadership Tomorrow, a program designed to promote civic leadership among community members. Selected annually, the Lobsterfest Foundation awards an additional beneficiary for the event and has chosen Make-A-Wish Orange County and the Inland Empire for 2012.
Make-A-Wish grants wishes for children who face life-threatening illnesses. The local Chapter will grant 325 wishes this year alone, but that number is less than half of the eligible children in the territory, according to a study conducted by the CDC. Make-A-Wish heavily relies on the support of the community and volunteers to help in its mission of reaching every eligible wish child.
