Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort and Back Bay Bistro are pleased to present Labor Day weekend full of events starting Friday, August 30 through Monday, September 2. The whole family can make a splash at Newport Dunes Water Park and explore the Liquid Run inflatable obstacle course. Enjoy live music and entertainment with Boots on the Beach and Bands at the Bistro and indulge in a waterfront Luau feast and more.
All weekend long from 10 a.m.–6 p.m, Newport Dunes Water Park will be open for kids and adults alike to enjoy an array of water activities inside the secluded, tranquil bay. Offering new, comfort-fitting and quick-drying, Super Soft life vests for kids, the one-of-a-kind waterscape includes brand new kayaks and two-person pedal boats, stand up paddleboards and electric Duffy boats available for rent. The star summer attraction is the Inflatable Water Park, home to SoCal’s largest fleet of oversized inflatables, which is even bigger and better than last year and open through Labor Day weekend.
Saturday, August 31 through Monday, September 2, get amped for the Liquid Run taking place each day from 9 a.m.–6 p.m. Set in Newport Dunes’ waveless bay, the largest inflatable obstacle course fun run features more than 50 obstacles to traverse atop clean, clear water. Between runs, enjoy music, a free Play Zone, food trucks, a Liquid Libations lounge and more.
On Saturday, August 31, experience the inaugural Newport Beach Luau from 6–9:30 p.m. Newport Dunes’ first-time event honors authentic Luau food and entertainment with Kane and Hula dancers, fire throwing and a traditional pig ceremony. Learn the history of the luau told through music, dance, drums, and chants while enjoying a delicious Hawaiian-style dinner under the stars with grilled chicken teriyaki, fresh pineapple, Kalua pulled pork and more. Sip cocktails from the Tiki Bar and savor the sunset along the Back Bay while basking in the ultimate luau experience.
Steps away at Newport Dunes’ waterfront restaurant, Back Bay Bistro, get your rock ‘n’ roll fix with a live performance by the nostalgia-fueled tribute band, Wayward Sons, on Saturday, August 31 from 8–10 p.m. Featuring the greatest hits of the ‘80s by Journey, Queen, Styx, Bon Jovi and others, the Los Angeles-based tribute band will have you dancing and singing along. Dinner during the show is available with special table seating. Experience Back Bay Bistro’s award-winning brunch, served Saturdays and Sundays, from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. Visit BackBayBistroNB.com to make a reservation for lunch, dinner or weekend brunch and to view the full Bands at the Bistro events calendar.
On Sunday, September 1, dust off your cowboy boots for one of Newport Dunes’ most highly anticipated events of the summer, Boots on the Beach. Experience live performances by talented country performers including George Strait Tribute, Troubadour Experience, Blown Away, Carrie Underwood Tribute and special guests. Line dancing kicks off at 4:30 p.m. Enjoy full bar service, food truck concessions and country vendors available throughout the festival. No outside alcohol or food is permitted. All ages are welcome.
