Montage Laguna Beach Mother’s Day 2019 presents four different ways to celebrate – the Masterpiece Celebration with bountiful brunch selections to please everyone, signature Studio’s Four-Course Brunch created by Chef Benjamin Martinek and his team, The Loft’s Four-Course Tasting Menu prepared by Chef Joosung Lee and his culinary associates and a classic Mother’s Day Tea served in the Lobby Lounge.

Mother’s Day 2019 Masterpiece Celebration
Sunday, May 12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The elaborate annual Masterpiece Celebration Brunch at Montage Laguna Beach has become a dining highlight of the year for many families and is always very special for newcomers. Brunch comes with a house Champagne toast, family photos, live entertainment and a special gift for mothers. Breakfast-centric stations offer eggs benedict, made-to-order omelets, lemon ricotta pancakes, French toast, smoked Santa Barbara salmon and more. There are antipasto selections, seasonal fruit and salads such as Wild Rice and asparagus salad with spinach and lemon-turmeric vinaigrette. The Sushi station has all the favorites. Seafood choices include poached prawns, cocktail crab claws and local rockfish ceviche. Plank-Roasted Salmon with a honey-cilantro-lime glaze and Prime Rib with Au Jus will be carved. In addition, hearty appetites are pleased with Grilled Swordfish, Roasted Mary’s Chicken, Saffron-Spring Pea Risotto and Seasonal Vegetable Medley. For the kids: cheese quesadillas, corn dogs, PB&J and other choices. Executive Pastry Chef Lee Smith always wows with his Dessert display.

Studio’s Mother’s Day Four-Course Brunch

Montage Laguna Beach’s signature restaurant Studio is a SoCal dining showcase perched on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The first of four courses of Chef Benjamin Martinek’s Mother’s Day Brunch Tasting Menu is a choice of Hamachi Crudo with Asian pear, serrano chile, finger lime and myoga; Marinated Baby Tomato Salad with burrata, puffed wild rice, aged balsamic and lemon basil; or Dutch White Asparagus and Lady Edison Country Ham. The second course offers Savoy Spinach Frittata with leek fondue and hackleback caviar; Smoked Red Abalone with caramelized onion soubise, pickled pearl onions and turnip confit; or Dungeness Crab Potato Hash. Entrée options are Alaskan Halibut En Croûte with smoked egg sabayon, sugar snap peas, golden chanterelles and sprouted barley; Mary’s Farm Organic Chicken Ballotine with braised white beans, morel mushrooms and heirloom carrots; or Roasted Filet of Beef with charred broccolini, potato-truffle mille-feuille and sunchoke cream. Bellwether Farms Pepato is the cheese course, and for dessert there’s Caramel Flan or Raspberry Pavlova.

Mother’s Day Brunch at The Loft: Four-Course Tasting Menu

Chef Joosung Lee who presides over the kitchen at The Loft, the casual all-day restaurant that overlooks Montage’s sparkling mosaic-tiled swimming pool and the mighty Pacific, has created a Four-Course Tasting Menu for Mother’s Day Brunch. It starts with either Tropical Fruit Parfait, French Toast Bites with huckleberry compote or Avocado Toast with hard-cooked egg. Next, there’s a choice of Kenter Canyon Farms Organic Mixed Greens with ruby red grapefruit and citrus honey dressing; Seafood Cocktail featuring kusshi oysters, poached shrimp and charred pineapple; or Baked Brie and Cherries with mizuna, feuille de brick and Sicilian pistachios. Entrée selections are The Loft Omelet with home fries, Buttermilk Chicken and Waffle, Quiche Lorraine or Short Rib and Eggs with Hook’s Aged Cheddar Grits. For dessert, Buttermilk Panna Cotta with strawberries or Ecuadorian Dark Chocolate Tart with apricots and marzipan ice cream.

Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea in the Lobby Lounge
Saturday and Sunday, May 11 and 12, from 2 to 5 p.m.
Live entertainment is part of the elegant Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea in Montage’s newly renovated Lobby Lounge. For this celebration complete with a fantastic panoramic view of the Pacific, there are Cucumber-Mint, Caviar-Smoked Salmon, Egg Salad-Onion and Lobster-Watercress Éclair sandwiches. Sweetness comes with the classic and raisin scones with clotted cream and house-made jams, Lemon-Blackberry Cream Buns, Valrhona Grand Cru Chocolate Roses, Raspberry-Violet Macaroons, Honey-Apricot Financier and Signature Orange Almond Cake.
