Chefs Enrique Olvera and Carlos Salgado Co-Host an Exclusive Culinary Weekend

The Cape and Manta Executive Chef Enrique Olvera invite guests to enjoy the upcoming Fourth of July weekend alongside Chef Carlos Salgado. Salgado is a 2015 Food & Wine “Best New Chef,” 2016 James Beard Award semifinalist for “Best Chef: West,” and chef/owner of the critically acclaimed Taco María in Costa Mesa. Chef Carlos Salgado partners with The Cape’s dining team (including Manta Chef de Cuisine Alex Branch) to co-host a series of Baja-inspired culinary events throughout the boutique Los Cabos resort. The two-day event includes an intimate cooking demo with Salgado; an oceanfront Tiki party on Monuments Beach; an exclusive, five-course tasting menu at Manta (developed by Olvera, Salgado, and Branch); and a limited-time selection of Taco María-inspired dishes on The Rooftop—the only rooftop lounge in Cabo San Lucas. Events range from $45- $120 per person (excluding tax and gratuity)

Friday, July 1 / 1:30-3 p.m. – Cooking Demonstration with Chefs Salgado and Olvera
The Cape kicks off the culinary weekend at its signature restaurant, Manta, which boasts nearly 360-degree views of the Los Cabos coastline. Chefs Salgado and Olvera lead an intimate cooking demonstration from the restaurant’s exhibition kitchen counter, taking guests through the intricacies of the most popular dishes from both Taco María and Manta. Guests interact directly with the chefs while sampling demo dishes and custom cocktails prepared by Manta’s bar team ($45 per person, including beverages and food).

Friday, July 1 / 7-11 p.m. – Manta on the Beach
Friday evening, the culinary team (including chefs Salgado, Olvera, and Branch) takes the festivities to Monuments Beach with a sunset Tiki party and live music. The world-renowned surfers’ destination—located just steps from the resort, with unparalleled views of the region’s famous El Arco landmark—provides a stunning backdrop as the chef trio grills local seafood and roasts a whole pig. The Cape’s award-winning Beverage Director Osvaldo Vazquez complements the menu with a selection of Tiki-inspired cocktails, while local Baja world beat band Pura Vida plays live ($95 per person, including beverages and food).

Saturday, July 2 / 6-11 p.m. – Five-Course Prix Fixe Menu at Manta
Superstar chefs Olvera and Salgado team up Saturday evening to debut a one-night-only prix fixe menu at Manta. Executing each course in turn, the chefs offer insight into their complementary, yet distinct, takes on Mexican cuisine. Beverage pairings from Vazquez include wine, sake, and cocktails ($100 per person; $120 including beverage pairings).

Saturday, July 2 / 10 p.m.-2 a.m. – Anniversary Party on The Rooftop
The series of events culminate atop Cabo San Lucas’ only rooftop lounge, where guests enjoy specialty cocktails and bites inspired by both Taco María and The Cape, while resident DJ Capri and guest DJ Cyril spin to a synchronized fireworks show. The Rooftop features unparalleled views from downtown to the sea, lush greenery throughout, intimate cabanas, a communal seating area with a fire pit, and a craft beer garden featuring Baja-sourced brews (admission to The Rooftop is complimentary; menu pricing is à la carte).
