Fly-N-Fish Second Annual "Chowder For A Cause"

This October, Fly-n-Fish Oyster Bar is pleased to kick-off National Seafood Month with its second annual ‘Chowder for a Cause’ to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Proceeds from every order of New England Clam Chowder sold will be donated to the non-profit organization.

Guests of Fly-n-Fish were eager to support this great cause and last year alone, the oyster bar raised $10,000 in one month. Owners and restaurateurs, Rick and Steve Loomis, who have been in the hospitality industry for nearly four decades, wanted to find a way to give back to their community and couldn’t be happier with last year’s results.

Executive Chef Julio Hawkins will be serving his signature New England Clam Chowder recipe, packed with chopped clams, potatoes, and leeks. To perfect the flavor profile, Rick, Steve and Chef Julio sampled 23 different clam juices to find the perfect match and coupled it with Triple Applewood Smoked Bacon. Fly-n-Fish is a strong supporter of ensuring a healthy ocean future by focusing on sustainable seafood brought in daily from the most prominent and responsible purveyors of fine foods from around the world, such as Santa Monica Seafood.

Fly-n-Fish, which opened in 2012 is located in the heart of the Newport Beach boardwalk and just a short stroll from the pier. Guests can enjoy freshly shucked oysters, seasonal specials and classic creations while watching the sunset in Newport Beach. Signature dishes include Maryland Crab Cakes which are pan fried and served with a papaya-mint salsa; Pan Seared Diver Scallops wrapped in triple smoked apple wood bacon and served with an achiote aioli; Cioppino presented with shrimp, scallops, clams, mussels, calamari, crab and seasonal fish in a zesty red wine sauce; and New England Clam Chowder served traditional in a traditional creamy style with chopped clams, potatoes and leeks. Their menu is enhanced with a select listing of wines, craft beers and a full bar. Fly-n-Fish is located at 2304 W Oceanfront, Newport Beach, CA 92663.
