The Golden Foodie Awards unite Orange County’s culinary community for an evening celebrating the achievements of local chefs and bartenders, held on Sunday, September 28 at The Fairmont Hotel in Newport Beach. The Golden Chef Series begins Tuesday, May 20 at Sub-Zero and Wolf in Costa Mesa, and serves as an exciting precursor to the awards ceremony. The series features local chefs demonstrating how to prepare their signature dishes and creates an interactive atmosphere that appeals to all of the senses.
The Sub-Zero and Wolf showroom will fill with rich aromas and lively chef presentations for the series, curated by Charlie Plummer, Sommelier, of Jackson Family Estates Winery. Foodies can enjoy the flavorful experience for $20 per date, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. during each installment. All proceeds from The Golden Chef Series benefit Share Our Strength and their campaign to fight child hunger in America. In addition, Sub-Zero and Wolf will match ticket sales, doubling the Awards’ efforts during the Golden Chef Series.
Guests of the series are welcome to watch the engaging chef demos while enjoying fresh fruit provided by Melissa’s Produce, artisan bread by Sadie Rose, and sample aged white cheddar courtesy of Cabot and Kerrygold. Toffee by B. Toffee will also be offered for guests looking to satisfy their sweet tooth and participants are also invited to enjoy wines by La Crema while tasting the chef’s creations.

The third annual Golden Foodie Awards recognizes the efforts of Orange County’s leading culinary minds. Nominees and winners are determined by public vote, with the exception of the Golden Chef, Golden Pastry Chef, and Best New Restaurant awards, which are nominated by industry peers. More than 25 categories will be recognized at the red carpet event in honor of various culinary backgrounds, dishes, and specialty categories including Best Food Talk Radio, Best OC Food Writer, and Best Happy Hour.
