Greenleaf's Fourth Location Sprouts Up at Costa Mesa's SoCo Collection

If you're looking for fresh flavor, seasonal ingredients, customizable options and great prices look no further then Greenleaf Gourmet Chopshop. With one location already thriving in Orange County we are excited to see another one opening up in Costa Mesa’s South Coast Collection in June 2013. Designed by SF Jones Architects, the SoCo location will feature a wine and beer bar, a juice bar, and will be open for lunch, happy hour, and dinner daily, as well as brunch on Saturdays and Sundays.

“We are thrilled to have been welcomed with such open arms by the Orange County community,” says Owner and “Commander-in-Leaf” Jonathan Rollo. “We have loved introducing Greenleaf to our customers in Costa Mesa and its neighboring cities, and look forward to being a part of the South Coast Collection, which continues to be one of the area’s newest culinary hotspots.”

Rollo and Executive Chef Kristi Ritchey’s commitment to wellness is reflected in their use of organic and local ingredients in Greenleaf’s gourmet, made-to-order salads, sandwiches, and wraps. “It’s been amazing to have been with Greenleaf for the past five years, and I get to create food that people not only love to eat, but that is also good for them,” Ritchey says. “We hope that our second Costa Mesa restaurant will continue to inspire Orange County customers to make smart lifestyle and eating decisions with our selection of nutritious menu items.”

Greenleaf’s focus on fresh, locally-sourced ingredients and sustainability will also be reflected in the environmentally conscious construction of the location. Design elements incorporate reclaimed, recycled, and compostable materials and green energy initiatives to create an eco-friendly restaurant. The new 2,500-square-foot space will echo the aesthetic of the 17th Street location, incorporating décor elements by SF Jones Architects, such as reclaimed wood furniture, vintage riddling racks, and a unique combination of various repurposed materials, and provide both indoor and outdoor seating for around 70 guests.

Greenleaf’s newest outpost will offer Orange County locals and visitors alike with a wine bar serving wines and beers on tap; a juice bar, serving Greenleaf’s signature freshly squeezed juices and juice blends; and local delivery. Guests can also take advantage of the daily happy hour from 3-5 p.m., with $4 glasses of wine and tap beers, a $5 rotating specialty Soju cocktail, $5 thin-crust pizzas, and half-priced side dishes and small plates.

Like at other Greenleaf locations, guests can choose from signature salads such as Orange County’s favorite Lemongrass Chicken Salad with grilled citrus chicken, mango, grilled pineapple, jicama, toasted coconut, cashews, thai chili, and thai basil with lemongrass lychee vinaigrette ($10); and the Antioxidant Orchard Salad with grapes, celery, agave-roasted walnuts, dried cranberries, crumbled blue cheese, mint, red onion, cucumbers, and seasonal berries with housemade pomegranate, whole grain mustard vinaigrette ($10.95). Salad lovers can also invent their own creations with over 78 toppings and more than 15 dressings, all made in-house and free of gluten, preservatives, and artificial ingredients. A selection of grilled thin-crust “pizzas” and entrées include the Wild Mushroom and Truffle Pizza made on a whole wheat tortilla ($9.95), and the “Team Greenleaf Favorite” Turkey Melt served on a pretzel bun with turkey, melted gruyere cheese, sautéed spinach with truffle oil, and caramelized onions ($9.95); as well as an assortment of soups and sides dishes.

For weekend brunch on Saturday and Sunday, guests can enjoy a selection of delicious morning items including the Breakfast Quesadilla with grilled chicken, portobello mushroom, egg whites, aged cheddar, red onions, and truffled spinach in a whole wheat tortilla ($11); Breakfast Pizza served with turkey sausage, roasted potatoes, goat cheese, arugula, and a sunny side-up egg ($12); and a Cobb Omelet Egg White Omelet with turkey bacon, tomato, basil, blue cheese, and avocado pesto ($9.95). Greenleaf’s younger guests can choose from the kids menu, with lunch and dinner items such as Mini Turkey Burgers with Sweet Potato Fries ($8) and Whole Wheat Rotelle Pasta with parmesan and olive oil ($5), and breakfast items like a PB & J Wrap with banana and granola ($5) and Egg & Cheese English Muffin ($5).

Greenleaf Gourmet Chopshop SoCo will be located at 3321-C Hyland Ave., and will be open for lunch and dinner from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Friday; brunch, lunch, and dinner from 8 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday and Sundays; and happy hour from 3-5 p.m. daily (hours subject to change).
