Just in time to inspire everyone with a heart, Hilton Anaheim and We Give Thanks, Inc. have joined forces to bring joy to a deserving Anaheim family during this Thanksgiving season with the presentation this week of a gift basket brimming with valuable prizes and the promise of an overnight stay in the hotel that will culminate in an exquisite Thanksgiving dinner prepared exclusively for them by the hotel’s Executive Chef Kyung Carroll.
Martin and Susana Gomez and their four children, Maria, 16, Carlos, 13, Anthony, 10, and Angel, 6, who have lived in a single room at the Arena Inn Motel in Anaheim for the past 11 years, were selected by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Anaheim to receive the honors because of the involvement they have had with the organization since 2006.
Volunteers from the hotel spent Tuesday afternoon at the Clubs’ facility at 311 East Broadway meeting the family and interacting with all of the members who were there to join in the fun, including serving an early dinner for approximately 150 members, ranging in age from 5 to 18. The volunteer activities coincide with Hilton’s Global Week of Service.
The gifts included tickets to a performance of DREAMWORKS’ HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON LIVE SPECTACULAR at Honda Center, along with Anaheim Ducks merchandise, dinner at La Casa Garcia, baked goods and more. La Casa Garcia owner Frank Garcia is the founder of We Give Thanks, Inc., which each year provides a free Thanksgiving Day meal to over 15,000 people at Honda Center. One-half of the turkeys are cooked in the hotel’s kitchen.
