Mi Casa’s Secret to Tamales “Wrapped Goodness”!

Since 1972, Mi Casa Mexican Restaurant & Bar’s traditional tamales have been a Southern California Holiday tradition!

“Our customers that have been with us since 1972 know the taste of our original chef Jose Perez’ homemade pork tamales, which are still prepared with the same recipe today”, says current Head Chef Abel Vega. Chef Vega continues the tradition and makes Mi Casa’s tamales the same way. “It’s time, labor and an intensive process. Wet masa is the secret to making our tamales light and fluffy!” says Vega.

Chef Vega has recently built on the Mi Casa Traditional Pork Tamale and mastered the art of balancing todays popular and savory spices, while balancing the Mi Casa tradition for his tamales. Just the right amount of seasoning is mixed into the masa and spread evenly onto a corn husk that has been soaked in water to make it more pliable. Vega’s tamales are then filled with chicken, pineapple or strawberry (dessert).

After the ingredients have been added, the tamales are rolled and steamed, and then ready to be enjoyed. The process requires skill and practice, but the result is a holiday gift of wrapped goodness ready to be opened and savored. For many families across Southern California, tamales are an essential element in celebrating the Christmas holiday. Mi Casa’s generous sized “wrapped goodness” tamales are available in pork, chicken, pineapple and strawberry by the dozen for your holiday feast.

Mi Casa’s generous sized tamales are prepared using traditional recipes, the finest ingredients, and are steamed to perfection. Pre-order Mi Casa “Wrapped Goodness” today!
