There will be plenty of celebration on Sunday, February 22nd as the world looks to Hollywood for the 87th Academy Awards. Instead of raising a glass of champagne this year, some may raise a Margarita to honor National Margarita Day. Tommy Bahama Restaurant & Bar will observe this day by featuring four of their most famous margaritas.
Known for their unique hand-crafted cocktails that include only the freshest ingredients, Tommy Bahama has a variety of margaritas that are creatively curious, yet still remain a true tequila based cocktail. The stalwart Baja Margarita is a classic, but the combination of Cointreau® and Grand Marnier® with scratch sour mix and fresh lime juice elevates this beyond a basic margarita. The Blood Orange Margarita has a refreshing citrus flavor and a vibrant red color from the Solerno® Blood Orange Liqueur and fresh squeezed Blood Orange juice. For even more unique margaritas, the Mole Margarita mixes Tanteo® Cocoa Tequila with mole bitters, and for a margarita with a little heat, the Leap of Faith uses Tanteo® Jalapeño Tequila and is garnished with a jalapeño for an extra kick.

2 parts Sauza® Conmemorativo® Tequila
1 part Cointreau®
2 parts scratch sour mix
1/2 part lime juice
1/2 part Grand Marnier®
Add all ingredients to a shaker except Grand Marnier®
Shake well until chilled
Strain over fresh ice
Top with Grand Marnier®
Scratch Sour Mix:
(Recipe makes 1/2 gallon. Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.)
3 oz. egg whites, pasteurized
2 cups sugar
4 cups water
3 1/2 cups fresh lemon juice
1/4 cup fresh lime juice
1/4 cup fresh orange juice
Whisk egg whites in a large bowl until frothy
Stir in the sugar and mix until incorporated
Add water and fresh juices and mix thoroughly
Pour into an ice filled double rocks glass. Garnish with salt rimmed and lime wedge.
Build in mixing glass, add ice, shake to mix and pour into double rocks glass with salted rim. Garnish with Blood Orange slice.
