This morning, Smoqued California BBQ announced their long-awaited official grand opening, which will take place next Tuesday, October 9th. “We’re very excited to finally announce our grand opening,” said Mike Hernandez, one of the owners at Smoqued. “We wanted to do something special that involved the local community, and I believe we have done just that.”
Besides the many discounted food and craft beer specials being offered throughout the day, Orange Mayor Carolyn Cavecche will be on hand with her “ceremonial” scissors to do the official ribbon cutting at 3pm sharp. The fun continues into the evening when Chapman University’s Lacrosse team participates in the first annual Meat Lovers Burger eating competition at 6pm, followed by live entertainment that is sure not to disappoint starting at 8pm.
“You don’t open a BBQ restaurant, you launch them,” says Hernandez, who also has an impressive craft beer background from working at the Tustin Brewery. “People want to enjoy themselves when they come to a BBQ restaurant. They want to indulge a little. My job is to make sure that happens.”
By honoring the BBQ tradition of low and slow cooking, Smoqued believes great BBQ is a passion – not a pastime. Which is why their pitmasters are up hours before the sun rises, smoking their signature, high quality meats in their wood burning smokers to create that tender, one of a kind finger licking deliciousness.
Doors open at 11:30am. The party starts when you arrive.
