The Ecology Center will host 2 screenings of the newest short film in the Come To Life film series by Guayakí Yerba Mate. The film is a six-minute documentary on the pioneering work of The Ecology Center founder, Evan Marks, and will be debuted at two screening events. The first will be held on Thursday, October 11 at The Ecology Center in San Juan Capistrano. The second event will take place on Friday, October 12 at The Ecology Center Farm Lab in Encinitas. Festivities at each location go from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Evan Marks, filmmaker Cyrus Sutton, and Guayakí media director Madison Olson will host a panel discussion at 6 p.m. followed by film screenings starting at 6:30 p.m. The panelists will also be available for questions immediately following the screenings. Attendees are welcome to bring their own food and beverages to the events and are encouraged to do so in reusable containers and wares. Light snacks will be provided. In addition, Guayakí will offer a variety of yerba mate beverages, including their new limited-edition Blackberry Mint flavor.
Guayaki’s Come To Life films encourage viewers to take action by spotlighting community figures who are living their passions while creating positive change for the planet. Each event will showcase a series of short films, all by filmmaker Cyrus Sutton, including Deep Immersion, Mark Healey, Why B Corps Matter, Natural Highs, Journey to the Source, and Rising Appalachia along with the newest film featuring Evan Marks.
Set among the lush greenery and rustic charm of a historic farmhouse and surrounding farmland, the six-minute film explores Evan’s work in agroecology and permaculture, The Ecology Center’s transformation from a dirt lot into an ecological oasis, and the founding principles that continue to guide him. “Ecological design works,” Marks says. “We can feed people, nourish ourselves, and nourish the planet.”
This film is available online as part of the Come To Life film library and can be viewed at this link: http://bit.ly/EvanMarksFilm.
